Norton 360 by Symantec has always been a powerful and comprehensive security suite, which many have relied on for many years. But how does version 4 stack up when compared to other offerings and it’s own predecessors? Continue reading
Major Nielsen has been kind enough to reveal the NPD for November and some very impressive YoY sales for the 360.
Surprisingly, the 360 has even out sold the Wii for the last 6 months (presumably since the relaunched model came out in June, at the E3 conference), and also the Ps3.
“November marks the sixth consecutive month Xbox 360 leads video game consoles in sales, with1.37 million units sold.” I believe this means that in the US the 360 has sold 1.37 million consoles for the month of November, which is very good sales for a console in its 5th year.
“Xbox 360 is the only console to show double digit year-to-date growth at 42%, making it thefastest-growing console in 2010.” As well as having 4 games out of 10 for the most sold software for the month. Unsurprisingly, Call of Duty Black Ops was the highest selling for the month, with over 8 million sales.
Also, 50% of all current console spending for the month was for the 360. All this info is extremely positive for the software giant, with one month remaining, and with Christmas right around the corner, it is no doubt that the console will have a successful holiday season.
The very first trailer for the huge Call Of Duty: Black Ops is seen below.
As well as this, the game also got a batch of brand new screens. Also seen below.
The game has a release date of November 9th of this year.
It may be behind the other 2 competitors, but Sony’s PS3 seems to be on its way to reach 1 million by the end of this year down under. Sony Computer Entertainment Australia head Michael Ephraimhad this to say about the sales:
“We’ve done pretty well considering we launched in March 2007, about a year after the Xbox 360,” Ephraim said. “We are clearly on track to break the one million mark before the end of this year.”
This may be enough to have taken over the 360 sales in Australia as last month they announced they have sold 1 million over Australia and New Zealand.
“I think the Aussie market missed the GFC bullet–while the US and UK saw a dip in sales, we grew by five percent last year. The local industry is confident that we can achieve the same numbers this year.”
“On the 3D side, I think gaming will be the big driver for the entire 3D market. The PS3 is now 3D capable with another firmware update coming shortly, and I am confident that our console will lead the charge in this market because we’re the only ones who are 3D ready.”
The video showcases some more gameplay for Ricochet which is to be honest, quite laggy and unresponsive, but overall seems to do it’s job. The Move gameplay is also a little off, but this is probably due to both motion technologies being in the early stages. The reporter and families seemed to have fun with all the technology shown. The 3D aspects looked good, but of course we can not experience this until after we have it in our hands. We will have fresh details for both PS Move and Natal next month at E3.
The massive hit of a game in Modern Warfare 2 has some more (expensive) DLC incoming. Robert Bowling, the creative strategist over at Infinity Ward, recently dropped some information regarding the upcoming Resurgence Map Pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. During his guest appearance on the latest episode of Major Nelson’s podcast, Bowling revealed that Activision will be sticking to the exact same formula as last time: three new maps, two old ones, and a $15 price point.
“Strike” and “Vacant” were confirmed to be the two re-released maps from Call of Duty 4. The three new maps are Trailer Park, a level featuring “super tight corridors”; Fuel, a sniper-friendly map; and Carnival, a circus that features such attractions as a Ferris wheel and a fun house.
Surely gamers will cry foul once again over the absurd pricing. Unfortunately, numbers don’t lie – the Stimulus Package garnered over two-and-a-half million downloads in one week. As such, we can’t exactly imagine Activision turning down a virtually guaranteed 40 million dollars.
Though no official release date has been announced for the PS3 and PC versions, it’s safe to assume that they will be available approximately one month after the 360 version’s release date of June 3rd.

There is a new Call of Duty title listed to be releasing on June 1st. It must be soon that it will be official announced at that early date.
Listed by both Amazon and GameStop, the Call of Duty Collection: The War Collection will include Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, and Call of Duty World At War. The title has only been listed for Xbox 360 at this time. Since Call of Duty 2 was never officialy released on PlayStation 3, it is possible that this Call of Duty Collection may never come to PS3. Or that it will come at a later date, no official information is known.
