IFS, the global enterprise applications company announced on March 13 that Atherton, Australia’s only manufacturer of large infection control equipment and one of the largest manufacturers and installers of commercial kitchen equipment will be implementing IFS applications. This will allow customer service management and mobility to become part of the core of its ERP system.

Atherton’s business is built on a foundation of the use of state-of-the-are technologies to improve its products and services. When the opportunity arose to utilise a key piece of technology, a mobile service management solution integrated into its ERP system, Atherton decided to replace its system with a single long-term business information platform.

Making the leap to implement a service management solution was not taken lightly. The process undertaken to find the best solution included consulting with 13 leading ERP suppliers and an in-depth evaluation of five ERP solutions.

Sean Boston, Atherton Chief Executive Officer explains the importance of finding the right solution to fit the organisation,  “When we viewed every other ERP system, service management was either bolted onto the system or was a third party system that had been purchased and integrated. With IFS you could see that service management was a core component.”

The new IFS solution will not only handle the core Service Management and Mobility components, it will also maintain Atherton’s Financials, Human Resources, Manufacturing, Project and Contract Management, Customer Orders, Distribution, Maintenance, Document Management and Quality Management.

With the new solution in place, it will allow Atherton to complete a range of functions within a single platform and have access to real-time business intelligence across Atherton’s operations for the first time. Boston discusses how this will benefit Atherton and allow them to improve the way Atherton operates. “Previously, we weren’t able to act on real-time intelligence, it required a manual review of the reports. IFS has an inbuilt ability to act on the data as it happens and that will aid us in improving our efficiences .”
