iiNet release NBN plans, 1TB for $99.95

iiNet has this morning released its pricing and plan information for the National Broadband Network (NBN), which is set to come out of trial phase on mainland Australia during October.

The company will base its pricing around the data quota per month, as well as the speed offered to customers. There’s three tiers of plans, in order of the amount of data offered from least to most; NBN-1 (20GB peak & 20GB off-peak), NBN-2 (100GB peak & 100GB off-peak) and NBN-3 (500GB peak & 500GB off-peak).

Each tier then offers four connection speeds at increasing prices; 12/1Mbps (Standard), 25/5Mbps (Fast), 50/20Mbps (Faster) and 100/40Mbps (Fastest).

Peak times for iiNet customers will be between 8am – 2am, with off-peak between 2am and 8am.

Pricing starts at $49.95 each month over 24 months for the entry-level NBN-1 plan at the Standard speed, and goes up to $99.95 per month for the top-of-the-range NBN-3 plan at Fastest speeds over the course of a 24-month period.

Internode will also offer its VoIP service – Netphone2 – over the NBN for $9.95 extra per month, with the company’s new BoB2 router also adding a further monthly charge of $9.95 for rent unless bought outright.

“We have long recognised the power of a ubiquitous, open-access network to transform our business. The NBN allows us to deliver what we have always stood for: faster, more reliable broadband for less,” iiNet CEO, Michael Malone said in a statement this morning.

“With standard off-net access charges offered by NBNCo 40 per cent less than currently available in regional areas, we can pass substantial savings on to our customers.”

In comparison, competing Internet Service Provider (ISP) Internode offers 1TB of data without peak and off-peak times for $189.95 at the fastest 100/40Mbps speed, while its entry-level plan is $59.95 over 24 months for 30GB of data over a 12/1Mbps line.

Dodo meanwhile says it’ll offer plans for “less than $40″ per month, while Exetel will provide 50GB on a 12/1Mbps connection for $39.50 per month over 24 months.
