Sony has announced the NGP (The name of the new handheld gaming device) during a keynoye address during E3. The Playstation Vita.

With a US sticker price of $249 (wifi only) the price point aims it squarely against the Apple iPod Touch. It will cost $299 using 3g supplied by AT&T.

Limited titles anounced at the same time, with Uncharted: Golden Abyss being shown during the keynote.

No sign or details of Australian release details. The Vita is not even mentioned on the Sony Australia site.

And the name? Keep getting visions of Microsoft and that mountain of #fail Vista
