It was roughly 6 months ago when Sony announced that they would be bringing 3D compatibility to the PlayStation 3 — sans Blu-ray support — via a firmware update scheduled for sometime this summer. What they forgot to mention was which of the three summer months it would be available. Well, according to a recent interview in the current issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, we don’t have to wait much longer.

In the article it was mentioned that the newest PS3 firmware update would be hitting next month (June), more than likely to coincide with E3. The newest update will add 3D gaming capabilities to the PS3 with 3D Blu-ray support hitting at a later date. There has been rumours about many things, an XMB redesign, premium PSN as well as others. We will find out more next month.
