Google has today released a couple of new tools that are sure to make it easier to search Google Maps for real estate listings. You can now find properties for sale from leading agencies such as Ray White, LJ Hooker, First National, Harcourts and Raine & Horne Australia-wide by visiting Google Maps and selecting “More” and then “Real estate” and can then filter these with different information you can enter in the sidebar. The Herald Sun has released its own iPhone app which is sure to keep you up to date with all the latest spring racing carnival news. Now available from the app store for $2.49, the application provides up to date information on tips and form for horses racing in most of the upcoming events over the Cup day weekend. It appears that in today’s Facebook platform update the news feed wasn’t the only thing to change. Users have begun seeing new image sidebar ads that don’t appear to be running on the Facebook ad platform. The format, which looks to be an IAB standard Wide Skyscraper advert, only seems to be showing on select Facebook pages in the right-hand sidebar. The Google Reader team has today announced a new section for Reader that will promote popular items along with a new option to filter your feeds for the “best” items.

OpenDNS has just announced that their paid plans are now available, with a family-friendly version coming in at $9.95 per year and an enterprise plan priced at $2,000. The service will now be split into three offerings: basic, deluxe and enterprise in the new focus by OpenDNS towards organisations who are willing to pay for the service. Apple today announced that it beat all expectations last quarter, and posted revenues of $9.87 billion and a net quarterly profit of $1.67 billion. Wolfram Alpha has today launched its own iPhone app using its recently announced public API, but it comes at a cost which many are already labelling far too high – $50. Though there are many, many iPhone apps that are above the $50 mark on the iPhone App Store, this could be a sore point for the app that only works when connected to the internet.
